In the year 1604, whispers of sinister plots threatening the King echo through the corridors of power. Disturbed and in search of respite, the King and his Court opt for a retreat to the countryside.
Accompanying the King are his esteemed Royal Court, along with Foreign Ambassadors seeking royal alliances and discussing treaties. Also in their midst is Lady Arabella Stuart, the King’s cousin, whose eyes are set on obtaining royal consent to marry her beloved, William Seymour, Duke of Somerset. Some consider her the rightful heir to the throne.
As his Majesty journeys, the town of Shrewsbury warmly welcomes him. Unbeknownst to the King, conspirators of the gunpowder plot, led by figures like Robert Catesby, Guy Fawkes, Anne Vaux, and Martha Wright, have mingled among the townsfolk, hoping to enlist supporters for their cause.
Amidst fears that his leisure might be marred by political intrigue or even assassination attempts, the King is determined to revel in the festivities. He leaves the vigilant royal Guards, under the leadership of Captain Malcolm Wolfe, to ensure the safety of himself and his guests. A race against time ensues to uncover the conspirators before their nefarious plans come to fruition!
